We are here to help!
Services to school boards.
The consultants offer a wide range of services to
school board programs; all with the goal of being confident that the
programs have the information and support needed to provide an
appropriate education model. The resource consultants are not a
direct provider of programs to students in board programs.
Role of Resource Consultant
CLASSROOM ASSISTANCE
-
visiting classrooms to conduct observations and
gather pertinent information

facilitating prescriptive assessments in order to
offer program suggestions
-
offering consultation regarding assistive technology needs/classroom
environmental requirements
-
providing advice re: integration and strategies
for inclusion
-
assisting in the development of student IEPs
STAFF ASSISTANCE
-
consultation with educators
-
presenting workshops
-
assisting boards to access appropriate
resources
-
attending case conferences/IPRC meetings upon
request
-
facilitating admission to a provincial school
for the deaf, blind and deaf blind
-
sharing information with school boards,
parents and others through various media
-
providing information and assistance to
boards concerning alternative funding
-
providing leadership support to
itinerant/teaching organizations (i.e. Itinerant Teachers of the Deaf in
Ontario - ITSO, ITNO, SWITO, Symposium East )
-
providing leadership in the use of technology
for the education of deaf/hard of hearing/blind/deaf blind students.
