Prime Minister’s Message
Greetings!
The past two years as Prime Minister have been a great experience for me.
This year with few new members, we’ve succeeded with all of the events that
we’ve hosted such as Hallowe’en and Christmas Dances, and our theme
"Opposite Sex" Day, when the girls dressed up as boys, and the boys
dressed up as girls. We’ve also donated $110.00 to the Christmas Sharing
Program.
Our Hallowe’en Dance was hosted on Thursday, October 31st.
Just before the dance, there was a haunted house in the basement of Sir James
Whitney main building with great decorations, scary looking characters and
lights effects which was arranged by the Grade 12/OAC Leadership Class. After
the high school students went through the haunted house, the dance,
traditionally, took place in the auditorium with great disco lights, coloured
lights, and two enormous speakers for us to feel the music. During the dance
we had some games, prizes, free snacks such as chips, juices, vegetables with
dip and cake. We also sold pop during the dance.
On Thursday, December 5th, we hosted the Christmas Dance in the
auditorium like the Hallowe’en Dance, but we had a whole town of Christmas
lights filling the auditorium, and great handmade decorations filled the
auditorium with Christmas Spirit. At the end of the dance we gave out free
stuffed animals to everyone. A VERY SPECIAL thanks to Max’s grandfather for
donating the stuffed animals.
With our fund raising from the Christmas Dance we donated $110.00 to two
poor families in the Belleville area for Christmas Sharing Program. With the
money we brought presents such as Christmas stockings, shampoos, soap, body
lotion, face wash, shaving cream, shaving razors, gift certificates from the
Quite Mall, candles, potpourri and lots of toys for the little ones in the
families.
